Will this year’s comedy champ be four-time undefeated champ “Modern Family,” Creative Arts victor “Orange is the New Black,” HBO political laffer “Veep,” last year’s potential spoiler “Louie,” ratings juggernaut “The Big Bang Theory” or young-skewing “Silicon Valley“? Most of the Editors agree that “Modern Family” will win its fifth series trophy and tie the all-time record held by “Frasier,” but Noble sticks his foot down and predicts “Veep” for the victory instead.

We spend much of our discussion on the “Modern” vs. “Orange” vs. “Veep” war, but agree that “Louie” or “Silicon” could shine in the smaller categories like Best Comedy Directing or Best Comedy Writing. You can almost always count on a surprise in these two categories, where the frontrunners are currently Jodie Foster for directing and Louis C.K. for writing.

According to Gold Derby’s odds that combine Emmy Experts, Editors and Users, “Modern Family” is in first place to win with 7/5 odds, “Orange is the New Black” is in second place with 9/5 odds, “Veep” is in third place with 11/2 odds, “Louie” is in fourth place with 25/1 odds, “The Big Bang Theory” is in fifth place with 33/1 odds and “Silicon Valley” is in last place with 100/1 odds.
