Matt Roush answers fan questions in his latest “Ask Matt” feature, including two about the Emmy Award snubs for supporting actresses Melissa McBride and Bellamy Young. He refers to  McBride’s work on “The Walking Dead” as “amazing” and reminds that Emmy voters don’t often welcome work from horror shows, with the exception of “American Horror Story.” As for Young on “Scandal,” he says she “certainly earned her place at the Emmy table, but that’s a tough category to crack.” He also answers questions about “Gotham,” “The Affair,” and “Homeland.” TV Guide

NBC lands Neil Patrick Harris to star in a new variety series based out of New York. It will be a version of the British show “Saturday Night Takeaway” and brings a price tag over $2.5 million per episode. Harris says, “As I watched the show, I couldn’t stop smiling. Now that I’ve seen many seasons, my face hurts. It’s a game changer. Nothing like this has been done before, and it’s unique structure fits right into my random skill set.
