Hugh Jackman is all set to host the 68th annual edition of the Tony Awards this Sunday. And to tease his return to Radio City Music Hall to preside over these top theater kudos, the Tonys have released a saucy new video entitled “Bounce.”
And that is exactly what Jackman does throughout the 90-second clip, which you can watch below. He bounces out of bed, into the bathroom where he shaves and, yes, showers, and then out of his hotel and into the streets of Manhattan. And just why is he doing this? The video concludes with a promise that all will be revealed on the kudocast.
Jackson emceed the Tonys for three years running beginning in 2003. He won an Emmy for his efforts in 2004 in the now defunct Individual Variety Performance category. That year was especially good for Jackman as he also took home the Best Musical Actor Tony for his work in “The Boy From Oz.” Two years ago, his wife Debora Lee Furness presented him with a special Tony in recognition of his contributions to the theatrical community.
Fans of Neil Patrick Harris needn’t despair as this four-time Tonys host is likely take to the stage to accept an award for his star turn in the tuner “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” Expect him and Jackman to do a duet, much as they did when Harris hosted in 2011. Relive that fun-filled moment below as well.
When the Emmys eliminated the individual performance prize in 2009, emcees became eligible to contend as part of the creative team nominated for the kudocasts which got their own special class category. Harris has picked up Emmys for each of his first three turns as host in 2009, 2011 and 2012. His efforts as host in June 2013 will be eligible for consideration at this summer’s Emmys.
