Will Imagine Dragons edge out Lorde for Best Rock Video at VMAs?

The MTV Video Music Awards will crown a first-time winner for Best Rock Video, but our predictors can’t agree on whether it will be Imagine Dragons or Lorde.

MTV Video Music Awards: Complete list of nominations

Imagine Dragons have the slight edge overall, getting 2/1 odds for “Demons.” This is their third consecutive nomination in this category, following unsuccessful bids for “It’s Time” (2012) and “Radioactive” (2013). Will the third time be the charm?

Close behind is Lorde for her recent Grammy-winning Song of the Year, “Royals,” which gets 23/10 odds, but she has the support of the majority of our Editors – three out of four pick her to win – while our Users are betting she’ll be vanquished by Dragons.

Linkin Park ranks third with 11/2 odds for “Until It’s Gone,” but we’d be foolish to underestimate them. This is their seventh bid, which makes them the second most nominated artist in the category’s history. They’ve won three times, which also makes them the second most awarded. Aerosmith holds both records, with eight nominations and four wins.

Critical darlings the Black Keys are fourth with 15/2 odds for “Fever.” This is their third nomination in four years, but they have yet to win.

First-time nominees Arctic Monkeys contend for “Do I Wanna Know?” and rank fifth with 10/1 odds.
