First time is the charm at Oscars for Jared Leto (‘Dallas Buyers Club’)

Jared Leto concluded his awards domination for “Dallas Buyers Club” Sunday night by earning an Oscar to go along with his recent trophies from the Golden Globes, SAG, Critics Choice and Indie Spirits.

For those keeping track at home, Leto prevailed as Best Supporting Actor at every televised awards show this year except for BAFTA, where he wasn’t even nominated due to the film’s late release in the United Kingdom. “Captain Phillips” scene-stealer Barkhad Abdi scored there in his absense.

Leto’s Oscar triumph is even more impressive considering he took off six years from acting to focus on his music career as lead singer of “30 Seconds to Mars.”

Leto lost 40 pounds in order to play the role of transgendered Rayon. He starred opposite Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner in the Best Picture nominee that was up for a total of six Oscars.

All 30 Oscar Experts polled by Gold Derby correctly predicted Leto’s win, making it one of the easiest categories of the night to predict.

The usual suspects that went home empty-handed in the Best Supporting Actor category were Abdi, Michael Fassbender (“12 Years a Slave“), Bradley Cooper (“American Hustle“) and Jonah Hill (“The Wolf of Wall Street“).
