In “Looking,” which aired its eight-episode first season in winter 2014, Groff plays Patrick, a San Francisco video game designer ambivalent about his romantic prospects with barber Richie (Raul Castillo) and his boss Kevin (Russell Tovey). HBO renewed the series for a second season.

It has been a busy year for Groff, who also appeared in “The Normal Heart” as an early victim of the AIDS epidemic, and voiced Kristoff in Disney’s Oscar-winning blockbuster “Frozen.” He is also known for his recurring role as Jesse St. James in FOX’s “Glee” and for his Tony-nominated performance in the musical “Spring Awakening.”
