“The Big Bang Theory” fans have waited a long time to see if Raj Koothrappali could finally speak around girls (without alcohol). The ice was broken during the seventh season, and we will ask actor Kunal Nayyar about that plot movement when he joins us for a live chat this Thursday, June 19, at 10:00 a.m. PT; 1:00 p.m. ET on Gold Derby’s home page.
On the CBS blockbuster hit comedy, Raj is part of a quartet of scientist friends (played by Nayyar, Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, and Simon Helberg) who hang out. They discuss science fiction, video games, movies, television, and their love lives. But as soon as a girl enters the room, Raj gets completely tongue-tied. However, for this past season, he has gone on actual dates and had romantic adventures in several episodes.
With the aid of a massive syndication deal, the geeky comedy has never been more popular. It has the support of critics and the industry as well. The program has been nodded at the Emmys the past three years as Best Comedy Series (and Parsons has won three times as Best Comedy Actor). It prevailed at the Critics Choice TV Awards as Best Comedy Series in 2013. And Nayyar has been at the SAG Awards as part of their Best TV Comedy Ensemble bid the past three years.
You can participate in our chat by adding your comments or questions in our chat room box that will appear next to the video box on our home page. Or you can participate over at our Google+ page in the Q&A chatroom there.
