On Tuesday, we’ll talk with Matt Bomer about his role as AIDS-afflicted journalist Felix Turner in HBO’s acclaimed telefilm “The Normal Heart,” which recently received a field-leading five Critics’ Choice nominations including a Best Movie/Mini Supporting Actor bid for Bomer. Join us for our live chat on June 3, at 11:00am PT/2:00pm ET on Gold Derby’s home page.
Outspoken writer and AIDS activist Larry Kramer wrote “The Normal Heart” in 1985. However, it didn’t get its first Broadway run until 2011, where it won Best Play Revival at the Tonys and John Benjamin Hickey won Best Featured Actor as Felix. Will the role’s stage success translate to the Emmys for Bomer?
It would be the first Emmy nomination for Bomer, who stars in USA’s “White Collar,” which recently completed its fifth season and has been renewed for a sixth. He has guested on both “Glee” and “The New Normal,” each of which was created by Ryan Murphy who directed “The Normal Heart.”
