This Thursday, we’ll talk with Michelle Monaghan about her role as Maggie Hart in the HBO anthology series “True Detective,” which was recently nominated for four Television Critics Association Awards, including Program of the Year, and two Critics’ Choice Awards, including Best Drama. Join us for our live video chat on May 29, at 4:00pm PT/7:00pm ET on Gold Derby’s home page.
Monaghan’s on-screen husband, Woody Harrelson, spends the season embroiled in a grisly murder investigation while also juggling mistresses and his growing, rebellious daughters. Eventually, Maggie makes a decision about her marriage that ignites tensions between Marty and his partner, Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey).
Though the TCA considered “True Detective” a miniseries, it competes as a drama at the Emmys, which means Monaghan will contend for Best Drama Supporting Actress. It would be the first Emmy nomination for Monaghan, whose impressive credits include the Oscar-nominated films “Unfaithful,” “North Country,” and “Gone Baby Gone,” the last of which earned her a Critics’ Choice Film Award nomination for Best Acting Ensemble.
