MTV Video Music Awards: Complete list of nominations

Beyonce reaped a leading eight nominations for the upcoming 31st annual edition of the MTV Video Music Awards. Among these was a Video of the Year bid for her collaoration with hubby Jay-Z on “Drunk in Love” as well as Best Female Video for “Partition.”

Aussie import Iggy Azalea contends in seven categories and goes head to head against Beyonce for Video of the Year and Best Female Video with “Fancy.”

Eminem also earned seven nominations — including Best Male Video and Best Collaboration for “The Monster” with Rihanna — but was snubbed in the top race. Ironically, he and Rihanna are the only two artists to have taken this top prize twice. He won for “The Real Slim Shady” (2000) and “Without Me” (2002) and has reaped a record six bids. She won for “Umbrella” (2007) and “We Found Love” (2012).

Pharrell Williams reaped a Video of the Year bid for his Oscar-nominated tune “Happy” from “Despicable Me 2,” as well as nods for Male and Pop Video. He competes against himself in Male Video as he features on Ed Sheeran‘s track “Sing.”

Miley Cyrus, who stole the show last year with her twerking, is up for Video of the Year with “Wrecking Ball,” which also contends for Directing.

The fifth Video of the Year contender is Sia with “Chandelier,” which is also up for the Choreography award.
