26 Oscar Experts predict Lupita Nyong’o for Supporting Actress, 4 favor Jennifer Lawrence

Twenty-six of our Experts are predicting that Lupita Nyongo will win Best Supporting Actress for her film debut in “12 Years a Slave.” That support gives her leading odds of 2/9

Four favor the chances of last year’s Best Actress champ, Jennifer Lawrence, who reunited with “Silver Linings Playbook” helmer David O. Russell for “American Hustle.” The four Experts predicting her to win a bookend are savvy Oscarologists all: Scott Feinberg (THR), Pete Hammond (Deadline), Guy Lodge (Hit Fix) and Steve Pond (The Wrap). Their backing gives her odds of 11/2 to pull off an upset at the Oscars.

At 50/1 is veteran character actress June Squibb who reaped her first-ever Oscar nomination for “Nebraska.” She has odds of 50/1.

2001 Best Actress winner Julia Roberts (“Erin Brockovich”) contends for the first time since then. She has odds of 100/1 to win for her sizeable supporting part in “August: Osage County.”

Also at 100/1 is Sally Hawkins for her turn as Cate Blanchett‘s sister in “Blue Jasmine.”
