Kyle Buchanan (Vulture), Tim Hayne (Moviefone) predict ’12 Years a Slave’ to win Best Picture Oscar

Vulture’s Kyle Buchanan and Moviefone scribe Tim Hayne are both predicting “12 Years a Slave” will win Best Picture at the Oscars as well as Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyongo) and Adapted Screenplay.

In Buchanan’s predictions and Hayne’s predictions just entered at Gold Derby, both also forecast a great night for “Gravity” with seven wins: Director (Alfonso Cuaron), Cinematography, Editing, Score, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects. Hayne also expects it to take Production Design.

Their backing bolsters the frontrunner status of “12 Years a Slave,” which now has 22 of 29 Experts picking it to prevail as Best Picture. “American Hustle” and “Gravity” each have the backing of three Experts while one likes the looks of “Saving Mr. Banks.”
