In one massive execution, “The Voice” sent eight artists home on Wednesday night. The home audience and four coaches selected a dozen contenders that will move on to more live shows next Monday. And there were definitely some shockers among a few people eliminated.
Blake Shelton has coached the winning artist in three of the previous six seasons. His five remaining contestants opened the live results show by performing the Dream Academy song “Life in a Northern Town.”
Based on your predictions over this past week (see chart at left), Carter was the biggest surprise since he was the least likely to go home. Brashears was one of the two you had predicted.
Next up was the team of five for coach Pharrell Williams. While he may be a rookie on this show, he is the reigning Grammy winner as Producer of the Year and has been able to assemble an astonishing team. His group performed “Money on My Mind” by Sam Smith.
Based on your recent predictions (see chart at left), Rene was most likely to be finished, but Kelley should have actually been much safer to stay.
Gwen Stefani is also a rookie coach for this seventh season. Because she started her career with the band No Doubt at such a young age, she has been a great mentor to many of the younger contenders. Her five artists took the stage to perform “Riptide” by Vance Joy.
Based on your predictions this past week (see chart at left), Manning seemed to be very safe, but Salaz was among the two most likely to be done.
The last coach on the live results show was Adam Levine, who had artists to prevail the first and fifth seasons of the NBC reality program. The Maroon 5 lead singer saw his five contenders perform the Nico and Vinz tune “Am I Wrong.”
As a group, this was our worst set of predictions because we had both Lawson and Jamison being cut. Phelan was in the best position to remain.
