Adam, Blake and Shakira run out of steals on Monday’s ‘The Voice’

Surprising steals have happened frequently during the first three battle rounds of “The Voice.” Monday’s episode featured three more, but now coaches Adam Levine, Shakira, and Blake Shelton have no more remaining. Usher is the only one who could use his final steal for the next round.

The Oscar-nominated tune “Happy” by Pharrell Williams was the focus of the first battle. For Team Adam, Josh Kaufman defeated Austin Ellis, but no other coach stepped in to save him.

Audra McLaughlin then took on Alaska and Madi with the Linda Ronstadt song “When Will I Be Loved.” In one of the toughest decisions he said has ever been made, Shelton chose the solo star, and the duo was elminated.

Shakira then pitted Deja Hall against Music Box with the Bangles hit “Eternal Flame.” She selected the younger Hall to move on, but then Usher jumped in with his first steal of the season to redeem Music Box.

Usher offered the next battle, with teenagers Madilyn Paige and Tanner James competing by crooning Taylor Swift‘s “Everything Has Changed.” Paige moved on to the dismay of disgruntled girls in the audience.

The romantic team of Dawn and Hawkes performed against Josh Murley with the Stealers Wheel tune “Stuck in the Middle with You.” The duo was declared the winner by Levine, and then in one of the most exciting moments, Shakira jumped in at the last possible moment to steal Murley.

The final battle of six for the evening featured Bria Kelly against Tess Boyer for Team Usher. They sang the Janis Joplin rock anthem “Piece of My Heart,” with Kelly as the champ. Shelton then used his last steal of the year to pick up Boyer.
