Long before “Les Miserables” was an Oscar-winning movie, it was a Tony-winning Broadway musical. This tuneful adaptation of the Victor Hugo classic novel took the top Tony back in 1987. That original production ran for 16 years on Broadway and returned to the rialto back in 2006 for a short stint.
The 2012 film version spurred interest in another remouting on Broadway. How appropriate that the star of the movie, Hugh Jackman, is hosting the Tonys this year. He earned an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of the persecuted Jean Valjean and Ramin Karimloo reaped a Tony bid for Best Musical Actor in this production, which also contends for Best Musical Revival.
Take a look below at Karimloo and company performing the rousing first act finale “One Day More.”
