‘Orange is the New Black’ shocker: Uzo Aduba didn’t audition to play ‘Crazy Eyes’ (Exclusive Video)

Uzo Aduba plays fan-favorite prisoner Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on the hit show “Orange is the New Black.” But, as she revealed In our recent webcam (watch below), she had auditioned for the part of Janae, which went to Vicky Jeudy. “I don’t know what she [creator Jenji Kohan] saw in those auditions that she thought ‘She’s not a track star, but she is going to be right for this thing over here that we’re thinking about working into the show.’ And I’m just happy that she did.”

“OITNB” tells the story of Piper Chapman (Golden Globe nominee Taylor Schilling), a woman sentenced to prison for a past drug caper and ends up befriending – and colliding – with the female inmates from all different walks of life, including Crazy Eyes.

Though their characters fight on-screen, the actress said it’s just the opposite when the cameras cut: “We just have a great group of people. It just seems like a team of people who are just so invested in each other and I say it all the time but I really do mean it, I only knew two people before I started this whole process coming into the work and everybody has just now sewn themselves into the fabric of each other. I cannot imagine life without them.”
