Were you one of the Gold Derby readers who accurately predicted this week’s shocking “The Walking Dead” results? In the biggest bloodbath since last winter’s finale when Hershel (Scott Wilson) and The Governor (David Morrissey) met the grim reaper, this week saw the end of the road for Beth (Emily Kinney), Officer Dawn Lerner (Christine Woods), Sgt. Bob Lamson (Maximiliano Hernandez) and about a dozen walkers.
While Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) are still drying their tears over Beth’s tragic demise in the mid-season finale, titled “Coda,” let’s examine the results of this week’s “Walking Dead” prediction contest. (Below, watch our video with Reedus talking about Daryl’s relationships with Carol and Beth.)
According to Gold Derby’s exclusive racetrack odds, Beth had 9/2 odds of dying next amongst the group of main characters. That means all of the users who accurately predicted Beth would die earned points based on those correct predictions.
Congratulations to the seven readers who correctly predicted 85.71% of this week’s “Walking Dead” questions. But special kudos go to Max, who got a 85.71% score on our Episode 8 leaderboard and reaped more points this week (3,858) than the other six accuracy champs thanks to locking in the best odds at the right time. This user correctly predicted six questions:
1.) Beth would die amongst the main cast
2.) No one would die amongst the recurring cast
3.) More than 10 walkers would die
4.) Rick would fire his gun
5.) Daryl would not use his crossbow
6.) Glenn and Maggie would not kiss

To vote for who think will be killed off next on “Walking Dead,” drag characters over from the left to the right and arrange them in your predicted order. For example, if you think Carol will be killed off next, make sure you put her in first place. You can continue to update and change your predictions throughout the week, just click “Save Predictions” when you’ve settled on your choice.
Every time someone logs their predictions, the racetrack odds of the contestants are automatically updated. If the majority of users think Carol will die, that means she’ll have the best odds and will go to the front of the pack. Conversely, the characters who don’t receive many votes have the worst odds and will go to the bottom of the pile.
The standard bet for each question is 100 points, which are wagered against the odds you locked in when you saved your predictions. However, for each TV episode you are given one special 200 point bet that you can use strategically to gain more points.
Here’s how racetrack odds work: If you bet 100 on something that has 50/1 odds and you end up being correct, you will receive 50 x 100 points, which equals 5,000 points. You’ll also get your original 100 points back, for a total of 5,100 points.
