Will HOH Jackie Ibarra shake up the ‘Big Brother’ house in Week 5?

For the first time in three weeks we have an HOH — Jackie Ibarra — that isn’t a member of the dominating Sixth Sense alliance, which I hope will provide us with something new this week. Floater Jackie dominated the HOH comp and will hopefully maintain the position through the BOB comp, but that depends on who she nominates. Read my analysis below of what may happen if Jackie stays HOH and then make your predictions in this week’s contest to win a $100 Amazon gift certificate.

Who will Jackie nominate?
Based on Jackie’s gameplay so far (what little of it we’ve actually seen, as hilariously remarked by “BB” fan favorite Britney Haynes Thursday night) we should assume that Jason, Becky, Meg and Steve are all safe from her gaze. That leaves stalwart nominee and BOB-thrower John McGuire, showmancers Shelli Poole and Clay Honeycutt, power twin Liz Nolan, the house’s own Jekyll & Hyde Austin Matelson and floater James Huling as her options.

Who will Vanessa nominate?
Based on her cold feet in her last go-round as HOH, Vanessa Rousso is going to happily relinquish HOH duties to Jackie this week. In order for Vanessa to vacate her throne she’ll have to nominate two houseguests that can and will win the BOB comp. Based on Sixth Sense strategy so far, it’s likely that Vanessa nominates two people in on the plan to leave the dirty work to Jackie. Expect Clay to finally hear his name called at the ceremony, and my guess is they’ll finally look to John to go up as a pawn again, but this time to help win the BOB rather than lose it.

Jackie’s Target
Once Clay and John are off the table as BOB winners, Vanessa becomes a potential target for Jackie, but it’s unlikely that Jackie goes against any word the two may promise during HOH negotiations to backdoor her. While taking out Vanessa would be the smartest move (in my opinion), Jackie will have her pick between Austin and Liz, each with certain advantages as potential evictees — Austin has made a lot of the power decisions in the last few weeks, and Liz only has one more eviction to avoid before her twin enters the house and doubles their power.

After logging in, click on the “Predictions” button found at the top-right of every page. That will bring you to a list of every event currently being predicted at Gold Derby — everything from the Emmys and Television Critics Association Awards to “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Survivor.”

Click on any box and then scroll down to start making your predictions. For each TV show, cast your votes on several different questions relating to the upcoming episode.

If you click on the “Big Brother” button, you’ll see something like this:

To vote for who you think will be eliminated next, drag your chosen contestant over from the left to the right. For example, if you think Shelli will get the boot, make sure you put her in first place.

Every time someone logs their predictions, the racetrack odds of the contestants are automatically updated. If the majority of users think Shelli will go home, that means she’ll have the best odds and will go to the front of the pack. Conversely, the contestants who don’t receive many predictions have the worst odds and will go to the bottom of the pile.

‘Big Brother’ poll: Who’s the WORST winner of all time?

Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.

Average Gold Derby users just like YOU often turn out to be our smartest prognosticators, so it’s important that you give us your predictions. You can continue to update and change your predictions throughout the week, just click “Save Predictions” when you’ve settled on your choice.
