Who will win Billboard Music Awards: Taylor Swift, One Direction, Sam Smith, …?

Taylor Swift leads with 14 nominations across 13 categories at the Billboard Awards, which will air live on ABC on May 17. How many of these races do you think she can win? Get the most right and you could win a $100 Amazon gift certificate and a place of honor on our leaderboards.

Hot on the heels of Swift are three newcomers: Sam Smith with 13 bids, Iggy Azalea with 12, and Meghan Trainor with nine. These kudos are doled out based on radio play and record sales over the past year plus streaming, touring, and social media interactions. The eligibility period ran from March 10, 2014, through March 8, 2015.

Swift, who won the Top Artist Award in 2013, contends in that category against recent Grammy darling Smith as well as Ariana Grande, One Direction and Katy Perry.

Smith, who won Best New Artist at the Grammys, is up for that same award here as are Azalea and Trainor as well as 5 Seconds of Summer and Hozier.

For Top Male Artist, Smith faces off against last year’s big winner, Justin Timberlakeas well as Drake, Pharrell Williams and Ed Sheeran

Perry defends her Top Female Artist title against Azalea, Grande, Swift and Trainor.

Last year, Imagine Dragons pulled off an upset in Top Duo/Group. This year, they were snubbed with boybands One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer contending against veterans Florida Georgia Line and Maroon 5 and newcomers MAGIC!

We are predicting the outcomes of these five races, plus the top artists in country, rap, rock and R&B as well as the Top 200 album and the Hot 100 song. And we will be predicting who will prevail for the Milestone Award when those nominees are announced later this month.

Last year, our editors outpaced our users with an average accuracy score of 75% versus 50% for these 12 categories. The two dozen users who earned the highest scores last year form our Top 24 Users this time around.

To be part of this elite group for next year’s kudos, start by making your prediction for Top Artist below using our easy drag-and-drop menu.

Be sure to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points. As we use those point totals to break ties when more than one user tops our leaderboard with the same number of correct answers, don’t take them for granted.
