Season 21 of “Dancing With the Stars” started Monday night, and the results were not what we expected. Our users predicted that Carlos PenaVega would get the top score of the night and that Gary Busey would get the lowest score, but our odds were wrong on both counts. We did, however, correctly predict that no one would be eliminated on the first night of competition. Did you foresee this week’s results? We weren’t completely out to lunch predicting the night’s top scorer. In fact, the top five on the judges’ leaderboard were also the top five in our racetrack odds, just in a different order. While we thought Carlos PenaVega would rule the night, he finished in third place with a score of 23 out of 30. Instead, tied with a top score of 24 were wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin (we ranked her fifth with 12/1 odds) and Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter (we ranked him second with 10/3 odds).
It was much tougher predicting who would get the lowest score. A whopping 65% of us thought Busey would be on the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard, giving him odds of 8/15, but while Busey indeed didn’t do very well (he only scored 15 out of 30), he didn’t struggle as much as “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kim Zolciak Biermann, who scored 4s across the board from the judges for a paltry total of 12. Only 1% of users anticipated that result, giving her 100/1 odds.
None of our users predicted all three results on Monday night, but 10 tied with 67% accuracy by answering two out of three questions correctly: RicosMama, Lills50, GamerWithFluff, Brulash82, Vinny, Max, ETPhoneHome, Jed Reifer, Ain’t No Elitist and BRAN12.
