While our users are overwhemingly predicting that “Veep” will win Best Comedy Series prize at Sunday’s Emmys, they would love to see “Parks and Recreation” get a farewell hug from the TV academy. Conversely, they both want and expect “Game of Thrones” to win Best Drama Series. Have you filled in your Dream Emmy ballot yet?

Our users embrace much of what they are predicting will dominate the Emmys on the drama side. However, their tastes are decidedly different on the comedy front. (See the full Emmy dream ballot results here and compare these with the official Gold Derby odds for Emmy winners here.)
“Game of Thrones” has a solid lead over “Mad Men” in both our users’ hearts and minds. Likewise, their dream picks for Drama Actor (Jon Hamm, “Mad Men”) and Actress (Viola Davis, “How to Get Away with Murder“) match up with the predicted Emmy winners. Likewise for Drama Supporting Actor (Jonathan Banks, “Better Call Saul”) and Drama Supporting Actress (Lena Headey, “Game of Thrones”).
The disconnect between what our users predict will win Best Comedy Series and what they think should win is startling with “Veep” having 12 times the support of “Parks and Recreation.” Their preferences line up with what they expect TV academy voters to go for in Comedy Actor (Jeffrey Tambor, “Transparent“) and Comedy Supporting Actor (Titus Burgess, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”). However, their love affair with “Parks and Recreation” means they favor Amy Poehler for Comedy Actress over “Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus. And “Veep” supporting player Anna Chlumsky is their choice for Comedy Supporting Actress over predicted repeat champ Allison Janney (“Mom”).
