Gold Derby editor Tom O’Neil and Deadline‘s awards pundit Pete Hammond have battled over predictions for more than 12 years. Now, in the video above, they clash over the Emmy races for Best Comedy Series, Actor and Actress, agreeing on who will probably win, but not on potential spoilers.
Both pundits believe “Veep” is out front for Best Comedy, but Hammond doesn’t think “Transparent” can take it down.
“This year I think is the year of ‘Veep,'” Hammond says. “It’s genuinely funny and I think that’s what academy members look for. So many series cross the line of comedy and drama – like ‘Transparent,’ which is the hot button number this year. I think it’s a little too serious for academy members.”

But O’Neil counters: “‘Transparent has cache. That subject is in the headlines with Caitlyn Jenner and it’s cool and it feel important, the same way that ‘Veep’ feels important” thanks to the current U.S. president election.
