Emmy predictions slugfest: Victory at last for Jon Hamm and history made by Viola Davis? (Video)

Will Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) finally win an Emmy after 13 previous losses? Can Viola Davis (“How to Get Away with Murder”) break the color barrier?

In our new Emmy predictions slugfest (watch below), Gold Derby editors Daniel Montgomery, Charles Bright and Ralph Galvan join me in making our forecasts for Best Drama Actor and Best Drama Actress.

Watch dozens of video chats with 2015 Emmy contenders

If Hamm were to lose, we predict an upset victory for either Kevin Spacey (“House of Cards”), Jeff Daniels (“The Newsroom”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), Terrence Howard (“Empire”) or Kyle Chandler (“Bloodline”). But watch out for a few under-the-radar actors that are still very much in this race.

Since an African-American woman has never won Best Drama Actress, we wonder if perhaps that title will go to Davis, Taraji P. Henson (“Empire”) or Kerry Washington (“Scandal”) this year. Or will voters reward former winners Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife”) and Claire Danes (“Homeland”) instead?

Also in our slugfest, we discuss our longshot predictions for the drama lead races and what dream contenders we want to see nominated at the Emmys.
