Unlike its Atlanta-based predecessor, “Fear the Walking Dead” is set in Los Angeles and follows a fractured family during the initial days of the zombie apocalypse. In other words, all the scary stuff that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) slept through during his coma on the original series is finally revealed.
We won’t know until next year whether “Fear the Walking Dead” becomes an Emmy favorite, but if history is any indication we can expect the series to make a strong showing at the upcoming Golden Globes. The original series was nominated for Best TV Drama Series at the 2011 Globes, proving that members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association aren’t afraid of the horror genre.
“The Walking Dead” is a two-time Emmy winner (both for Best Prosthetic Makeup) and it could triple its total Emmy haul this year as the show is nominated in four Creative Arts categories: Best Prosthetic Makeup, Best Sound Editing, Best Stunt Coordination and Best Supporting Visual Effects.
