Poor Leonardo DiCaprio just can’t seem to catch a break at the Oscars. Despite starring in two Best Picture winners — “Titanic” (1997) and “The Departed” (2006) — he still doesn’t have a golden statue of his own. Will “The Revenant” turn out to be DiCaprio’s Oscar ticket after previously losing four acting races, plus once for producing Best Picture nominee “The Wolf of Wall Street”? Set in the early 1800s, “The Revenant” stars DiCaprio as Hugh Glass, a frontiersman who undertakes an epic journey of revenge after a horrific bear mauling. Triple Oscar winner Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (“Birdman”) directs and Tom Hardy also stars in this highly anticipated film that will be released Christmas day.

According to the Oscar predictions of our Experts drawn from major media outlets like Yahoo, Entertainment Weekly and Variety, DiCaprio is unbeatable for Best Actor.

In fact, all 24 of our Experts now have him winning, which translates to leading 3/2 odds. See up-to-date Oscar odds and rankings from our Experts in all categories right here.

Also in DiCaprio’s favor is the fact that he’s one of only 13 performers who this year received nominations from the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice and SAG Awards. That shows unanimous support from the tell-tale Oscar precursors.

The other three Best Actor contenders to appear at all three prior kudos are Bryan Cranston (“Trumbo”), Michael Fassbender (“Steve Jobs”) and Eddie Redmayne (“The Danish Girl”). While our Experts predict these men will also receive Oscar nominations — along with Matt Damon (“The Martian”) — none of them foresee a win for anyone other than DiCaprio.
