Oscar nominations studio scorecard: Fox Searchlight (20), Sony Pictures Classics (18), …

Fox Searchlight Pictures, which won Best Picture last year with “12 Years a Slave,” has two chances to repeat this year as both “Birdman” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” are among the eight nominees for the top prize. Each of these films reaped nine bids while “Wild” earned nominations for Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. (See a breakdown of nominations by film here.)

Sony Pictures Classics racked up 18 nominations across seven films. Both “Whiplash” and “Foxcatcher” snared five bids while “Mr. Turner” earned four. With one apiece are: “Leviathan,” “The Salt of the Earth,” “Still Alice” and “Wild Tales.” 

Warner Bros. was the only other studio to score in the double digits, with 11 nominations spread out among: “American Sniper” (6), “Inherent Vice” (2), “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” (1), “The Judge” (1) and “The LEGO Movie” (1).

The Weinstein Company has nine nods with “The Imitation Game” accounting for eight of these and “Begin Again” one. 

Disney picked up eight nominations from five films: “Into the Woods” (3), “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2), “Big Hero 6,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier“and “Maleficent” (1). 

Paramount has seven nominations across two films: “Interstellar” (5) and “Selma” (2).

Focus Features has six nominations from two films: “The Theory of Everything” (5) and “The Boxtrolls” (1). 

IFC has six nominations, all for Best Picture frontrunner “Boyhood.”

20th Century Fox has four nominations, with one apiece from “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “Gone Girl,” “How to Train Your Dragon 2” (shared with DreamWorks Animation) and “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

Universal has three nominations, all from “Unbroken.”

GKIDS has two animated films in contention: “Song of the Sea” and “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.”

Music Box Films has two nominations from one film, “Ida.”

Sundance Selects has two nominations from two films: “Two Days, One Night” and “Finding Vivian Maier.”
