Rumors are circulating around Hollywood right now that Oscar producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin are on the hunt for a duo to host this year’s kudos. In the past, hosting duos have been a mix of hits (like Alec Baldwin & Steve Martin) and misses (like James Franco & Anne Hathaway), so we’ve come up with some inventive ideas in our new poll to put Hill and Hudlin on the right track. Cast your own vote below.
Ricky Gervais is your #1 choice to host the Oscars (and they need him)
Our users, many of whom are Hollywood insiders, have been furiously debating this red-hot topic in our movie forum. Join that fiery forum thread here. Perhaps you’ll be swayed by some of their suggestions, which include:
ATadPolish: Hire Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele… Please!
Atypical: If the Oscars have no issues with Golden Globes sloppy seconds, then the clear choice is Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
KyleBailey: Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence. I know many people would just be catty the whole time but they would be wonderful. Also Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake — see anything they ever collaborate on.
ProfessorChaos: I will stand by my suggestion of Seth Rogen and James Franco.
OnTheAisle: I am intrigued by the idea of two hosts. However, I want two disparate personalities, one to be witty and one to be solemn. A pairing of Chris Rock and Oprah Winfrey could be amazing!
MarcusJamesDixon: Has anyone mentioned Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant as a possible hosting duo? They’ve worked together before and have great chemistry.
Among some of the other duos our savvy forum posters came up with are: Kristen Wiig and either Bill Hader or Will Ferrell, Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal, Bette Midler and Cher, and Steve Martin and Tina Fey.
