‘Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas’ will sweep Razzie Awards, ‘Transformers’ will take two

Transformers: Age of Extinction” led the Razzie nominations with seven, but “Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas” will sweep the awards according to the combined predictions of our experts, editors, and users.

Will ‘Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas’ sweep Razzies?

“Saving Christmas,” in which Kirk Cameron tries to convince his brother-in-law about the Christian meaning of the holiday, will win four of its six nominations: Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Cameron), Worst Screenplay, and Worst Screen Combo (Cameron and his ego).

But “Transformers” is expected to win twice: Worst Director (Michael Bay) and Worst Remake, Ripoff or Sequel. That would bring the franchise to a total of five Razzies, after the three awards won by “Revenge of the Fallen” in 2009, including Worst Picture.

Former “Transformers” star Megan Fox, who previously earned a Worst Actress bid for “Revenge of the Fallen,” is favored to win her first Razzie, as Worst Supporting Actress in the Michael Bay-produced “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

Worst Supporting Actor will go to Mel Gibson, one of three nominees in that category from “Expendables 3.” It would be the first Razzie for the embattled actor.

Cameron Diaz earned three nominations this year, and our predictors are betting on her to take Worst Actress for the one-two punch of “Sex Tape” and “The Other Woman.” She’s also up for Supporting Actress (“Annie“) and Screen Combo (“Sex Tape,” with Jason Segel).

The last Razzie is the only one an actor might want to win: the first-annual Redeemer Award, for a star who underwent a career turnaround after Razzies infamy. Leading that race is Ben Affleck, who went from the Razzie-winning “Gigli” to the Oscar-winning “Argo.”
