Live performances began last Monday night on “So You Think You Can Dance,” which means it’s time for the season’s first eliminations. Our users have been predicting these results since the top 20 were announced, and whoever has the best predictions score will win our $100 weekly prize (if they qualify according to our contest rules). So who do they think will be sent home?
This season, “SYTYCD” has split the competition into the top 10 stage dancers and the top 10 street dancers. One member from each group will be ousted each week until one contestant emerges at the end of the season as the ultimate winner. According to our racetrack odds, Alexia Meyer (Team Stage) and Eddie “Neptune” Eskridge (Team Street) will be the unlucky first two on the chopping block.
Neptune was the first out of the gate last Monday, performing the night’s first routine with fellow street dancers Megz Alfonso and Jessica Rabone. That was also when the erstwhile Eskridge introduced his new planetary moniker, which he explained to judge Nigel Lythgoe represented peace and love. Lythgoe replied that Neptune would have to “bring some personality” to keep up with his strong female counterparts. Jason Derulo pulled no punches when he told the trio he was “let down” by the performance.
That leaves Neptune with 15/8 odds to be eliminated based on 35% of users who are anticipating his exit. His dance partner Rabone ranks fourth with 16/1 odds, while Alfonso is expected to be safe with 100/1 odds.
Also at risk on Team Street is Ariana Crowder with 13/2 odds.
On the stage side, Meyer performed a sexy burlesque with Hailee Payne and Marissa Milele. The judges warned them against being too overt during provocative dance numbers, but of the three of them, Meyer is the only one at risk according to our predictors. She gets 17/10 odds of elimination based on 37% of users who think she’ll go home, while Milele gets 33/1 odds and Payne gets 50/1 odds.
User Denton Davidson won our “SYTYCD” contest for season 11 last summer (check out his power rankings for Team Street and Team Stage), but he only agrees with one of our consensus choices. He thinks we’re right about Meyer’s elimination from Team Stage, but he believes Crowder will get the boot instead of Neptune from Team Street (click here to see his complete predictions).
