On Saturday night, “So You Think You Can Dance” won the Emmy for Best Choreography for the ninth time, for perennial nominee Travis Wall, so it seems likely the show will be nominated again next year. But which dance gives the show its best chance for a 10th victory in the category? We asked our readers to tell us what the best stage dance and best street dance of the season was. The results are in, but which of those was the very best of season 12?

‘SYTYCD’ predictions rewind: We overestimated Jim Nowakowski, Yorelis Apolinario

There was no doubt about our readers’ favorite stage dance this summer. More than 40% picked Gaby Diaz and all-star Robert Roldan‘s contemporary dance to Sarah McLachlan‘s “Angel,” choreographed by Mandy Moore. The emotional number was “in a class of its own” according to head judge Nigel Lythgoe. Fellow judge Paula Abdul called it “world-class.” Moore has been nominated four times for her choreography at the Emmys (2008, 2011, 2013, 2014), but she has yet to win. The fifth time was the charm for her colleague Travis Wall this year. Could the same be true for Moore next year?

She may have to face off against hip-hop choreographers Pharside and Phoenix, who choreographed our readers’ favorite street routine: “Runnin’,” the robot-themed hip-hop dance performed by Virgil Gadson and Hailee Payne, impressed the judges so much Lythgoe said it would be remembered in 10 years time. It received 34% of reader votes. Pharside and Phoenix have yet to be nominated at the Emmys, but they may be formidable contenders next year, especially when you also consider that two more of their dances – the ninja-inspired “I’m Really Hot” and Virgil’s finale showstopper “Let’s Go” – received 18% of the votes each.

Which of those two do you think was the season’s best dance? Do you think “So You Think You Can Dance” will win its 10th choreography Emmy next year? Watch both dances below and vote in our poll, then make sure you predict Monday night’s “SYTYCD” finale episode.

There’s one last predictions event this season. The final four performed September 7 with a winner to be crowned on September 14, so you have until the season finale to predict the final outcomes: who will win, who will finish second, who will finish third and who will finish fourth.

Emmy for Choreography: Derek Hough (‘DWTS’) & Travis Wall (‘SYTYCD’) both win

At the end of each week, the eligible user with the highest prediction accuracy and most points will win a $100 Amazon gift certificate, so it’s beneficial to keep coming back often and making/updating your predictions.
