Kelly Wiglesworth
Previous Finish: Runner-up
Season 1: Borneo

Due to her second place finish on the iconic first season of “Survivor,” Kelly comes into “Second Chance” with the most name recognition. Everyone (51 million people) watched the now infamous first final tribal council as Sue Hawk railed into Kelly, calling her the island rat to be eaten by Richard Hatch‘s snake and saying that if she ever found her stranded in a desert dying of thirst she would leave her to die with no remorse.

Kelly played a near-immaculate game, mixing immunity dominance with a tight alliance and winning over many of the jury members, but it’ll be interesting to see how she adapts to all the twists that have been added to the game since her season. Gold Derby odds to win: 50/1

PROS
Kelly saw the value in currying favor with potential jurors. Although this is ultimately what turned Sue against her, we’ve seen in the 29 seasons following hers that some juries do vote based off of personal connections.

Don’t forget, she went on an insane late-game immunity idol streak, winning the last five. Physical prowess is always an asset in the beginning of the game and gives her time to establish bonds with her tribe.

CONS
“Survivor” has evolved in many ways since Kelly first played 15 years ago. The hidden idols, exile islands and tribe switches that characterize recent seasons will all be new to this vet.

Many people think Kelly should have beat Richard so Kelly may enter the game with as close to a “winner” target as is possible for a season of non-winners.
