Woo Hwang
Previous Finish: Runner-up
Season 28: Cagayan

Despite his physical prowess and overall likability, Woo will always be remembered by “Survivor” fans as the guy who foolishly gave away $1 million. Back in the finale of “Survivor: Cagayan – Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty,” Woo won the final immunity challenge and had to decide between bringing either Kass McQuillen or Tony Vlachos with him to the Final 2. Instead of choosing Kass, who everyone in the jury hated, he went with Tony, the smartest player of the season, who went on to easily win with an 8-to-1 vote.

Woo’s rationalization was that the jury might respect his game decision, but apparently he forgot that he was playing “Survivor,” a show where often the nastiest, most cunning players become the victors. Has Woo learned from his mistakes? Gold Derby odds to win: 50/1

PROS
As an original member of the “Brawn” tribe in Season 28, Woo has a serious advantage heading into “Second Chance” as he’ll likely dominate many of the physical challenges. Pre-merge, his tribe will want to keep him around to help them win, while post-merge, he’ll have an easy time winning individual challenges.

Woo is one of the most-liked contestants of all-time. He even chose to take a harder foe with him to the finale last time because he thought that would endear himself to the jury. Expect his likability to carry him through pretty far.

CONS
Woo may not have the cutthroat instinct it requires to win “Survivor.” Sure, nice people have won in the past, but in a game of all-stars, “nice” won’t win jury votes.

Three other “Survivor: Cagayan” players return who were all on the original “Brains” tribe: Kass, Spencer Bledsoe and Tasha Fox. Woo may find himself on the outside of a regrouped alliance — that is, if Spencer and Tasha have forgiven Kass for betraying them last time.
