An impressive 42% of our users foresaw that the newly engaged couple would end up being eliminated at the end of the 10th episode. If you got the result right, why are you not taking part in our predictions contest? Do you have what it takes to be the best among the most fervent fans of the “Race”?
Matt reveals that completing the Speed Bump task of typing did not take as long as it looked. And while that kept these keen players in with a chance, both of them were not surprised to be eliminated. Just how close were they to catching up with Tyler and Laura at the Pit Stop? Matt thinks “maybe 20 minutes” but admits “I really don’t remember” while Ashley thinks it was “maybe a half hour.”
Either way, they hold no grudges and cite this Blind Date couple as the ones they would like to see win the ‘Race’ and the one million dollar prize. As Ashley explains, “If it can’t be us we would love to see Laura and Tyler win. They are close friends of ours and we worked really closely with them.” And, adds Matt, “we got along really well with them.”
As for the games being played by the other teams, Matt thinks: “Everyone was a strong racer and great teams. I think this was one of the most competitive seasons.” How so? “All the final six teams had won a leg so that says something right there.”
Ashley candidly admits “the ‘Race’ was more than we expected it to be. We expected the experience to be great, but the people we met and the things that we saw and did were amazing.” Adds Matt, “It was the best experience of my life. You can’t buy something like this.”
And while they may have lost the “Race,” they did find themselves engaged. Matt recounts how he decided when to propose: “When I opened up the clue for the third leg of the race in Japan and It said we were going to Thailand I knew I would do it there.” Why? “Thailand is beautiful and the Pit Stops are always at really nice places so I knew that is when it was going to be.” As for Ashley, she admits to being completely surprised when Matt dropped to one knee at the Pit Stop: “I had absolutely no idea.”
