Will fourth time be the charm for “The Walking Dead‘s” snarling, growling zombies to finally win Best Sound Editing at the Emmys? The AMC show’s sound effects were previously nominated in 2011, 2012 and 2014, but it lost out to “Boardwalk Empire,” “Game of Thrones” and “Black Sails,” respectfully.

Eligible TV academy members will be voting on the Season 5 finale, titled “Conquer,” in which the characters (including Steven Yeun, above) faced an onslaught of enemies, from terrifying walkers to gun-wielding Alexandria residents.

Rival Emmy nominees in this year’s Best Sound Editing race are “Black Sails” (episode “XVIII”), “Boardwalk Empire” (episode “The Good Listener”), “Game of Thrones” (episode “Hardhome”), “Gotham” (episode “All Happy Families Are Alike”) and “Daredevil” (episode “Speak Of The Devil”).

The zombie series may be a ratings juggernaut, but so far it only has two prosthetic makeup Emmys to show for all of its success. In 2011, the “Days Gone By” episode prevailed while in 2012 it was the “What Lies Ahead” episode.

The Walking Dead” could triple its total Emmy haul this year as the show is nominated in four Creative Arts categories:

Best Prosthetic Makeup

Best Sound Editing

Best Stunt Coordination

Best Supporting Visual Effects
