Tony Awards performance: Tony Yazbeck leads spirited cast of ‘On the Town’ (Video)

Stage vet Tony Yazbeck scored the first Tony nomination of his career for his rousing portrayal of a sailor on leave in the revival of “On the Town.” This triple threat handled the songs of Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden and Adolph Green with aplomb, mixed athleticism and grace in the dances and acted his socks off.

Yazbeck led the cast in spirited renditions of  “Lucky to Be Me,” “New York, New York” and “Times Square Ballet.” He lost his Best Actor (Musical) bid as the show went 0 for 4 at the Tony Awards.
