Carrie Underwood just reclaimed her Female Vocalist of the Year title at the CMA Awards on November 2, and it looks like her winning streak will continue on Sunday, November 20, at the 2016 American Music Awards. She’s tipped to win Favorite Country Female Artist there for the third year in a row, and the fourth time overall. Check out our complete AMA racetrack odds and make your own predictions.
Underwood is the heavy favorite to win with 8/13 odds. She first won this award in 2007, but then crossover star Taylor Swift romped through the category with six straight victories from 2008 to 2013. Once Swift made the official switch to pop music Underwood was able to get back to the winner’s circle in 2014 and 2015. This year she has two other AMA nominations: Country Album (“Storyteller”) and Artist of the Year, where she made the final five after the original list of 10 nominees was cut in half earlier this week — she even outlasted superstars Adele and Beyonce.
Newcomer Kelsea Ballerini is next in line with 4/1 odds. This is her second straight nomination in this category but her only nomination this year. The 23-year-old singer released her major label debut album, “The First Time,” in May 2015.
Rounding out the category with 9/2 odds is another fresh face, Cam. She had a breakthrough in 2015 with the platinum single “Burning House,” which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Country Solo Performance. And her major label debut album “Untamed” was released last December. But like Ballerini she has no other nominations this year.
