Before the 2017 Grammy nominations were announced on December 6, our predictions contest entrants were giving Adele the advantage to win Album of the Year for her bestselling album “25.” But when the recording academy announced its top contenders Beyonce led all artists with nine nominations overall, and now our users have had a change of heart. Queen Bey’s critically hailed “Lemonade” now gets leading 6/5 odds. Do you agree with our latest predictions? Watch our video slugfest above and decide for yourself.
Hundreds of readers are already predicting the Grammy winners since yesterday’s nominations, and you can too. Our predictions center is open for the top four general field categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist, with many more categories to be added in the coming weeks across genre fields including pop, rock, R&B and rap.
Though Beyonce has moved ahead, Adele is still a major threat, ranked a close second with 2/1 odds. She did, after all, sweep the Grammys just five years ago by claiming Album (“21”) and Record and Song (“Rolling in the Deep”), and she hasn’t lost a Grammy category since way back in 2009. The rest of the Album of the Year field is farther behind with only a smattering of support: Drake (“Views”), Justin Bieber (“Purpose”) and surprise nominee Sturgill Simpson (“A Sailor’s Guide to Earth”) all have 9/2 odds as of this writing.
