[WATCH] Beck releases new single ‘Wow’: Will he crash another Grammy party?

Beck has released a new song titled “Wow” (watch the lyric video above). Does it sound like an award winner to you? Beck last made a splash on the music scene with his acclaimed, contemplative album “Morning Phase” (2014), which pulled off a big upset at the Grammys, winning Album of the Year against Beyonce‘s heavily favored self-titled album. Dish “Wow” with Hollywood insiders in our notorious forums by clicking here.

It’ll be Beyonce vs. Adele at Grammys 2017 according to music guru Chris Willman

Beck also won Best Rock Album that year, bringing him to a career total of five  Grammys. He had previously won Best Alternative Album for “Odelay” (1996) and “Mutations” (1999) and Best Male Rock Vocal for “Where It’s At” (1996). “Odelay” and “Mutations” were also nominated for Album of the Year, so his win for “Morning Phase” was overdue.

Not everyone felt that way, though. Famous outrage machine Kanye West said on E! following the ceremony, “You keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental music. You are disrespectful to inspiration.” He later apologized to Beck.

Of course Beyonce has another chance at the Album of the Year Grammy. She released an even more acclaimed album, “Lemonade,” to much fanfare this spring. Maybe she should cross her fingers, though, that Beck waits to release a complete new album until at least after the September 30 Grammy eligibility cut-off.
