As predicted, Brie Larson (“Room“) won Best Actress at the Oscars on Sunday for playing Joy “Ma” Newsome, a kidnapped woman who lives with her five-year-old son in a small room. Larson was Gold Derby’s frontrunner with odds of 1/10 to prevail. This is the first Oscar victory for Larson on her first nomination.
