“Any kind of body-shaming is the furthest thing from who I am and what I stand for,” said a passionate Julianne Hough to “Entertainment Tonight” following allegations that she body-shamed contestant Amber Rose on “Dancing with the Stars.” Hough continued, “I have been a strong proponent of female empowerment and an anti-bullying advocate for years and I take that very seriously.”
How did we get here? You may remember that on this week’s performance show, Rose danced to Jennifer Lopez‘s “Booty” with her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and ended up receiving negative feedback from Hough at the judge’s table. “I did feel body-shamed [by Hough’s ‘uncomfortable’ comment],” Rose revealed on her podcast, which led Hough to release her statement today. Whose side are you on? Vote in our new poll below.
This is hardly the first “DWTS” controversy of Season 23. Olympian swimmer Ryan Lochte had to be protected by security when protesters stormed the stage in the season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars.” They were mad over Lochte’s prior reports that he was robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro, which turned out to be lies.
