Having trouble narrowing down this year’s crop of Emmy contenders to the six that’ll earn Best Drama Actress nominations? Well, look no further than last year’s Top 24 Users, the two-dozen contest entrants who did the best predicting 2015’s Emmy nominations. They are now showcased in a league to forecast who will earn nominations on July 14. Scroll down to see their picks for Best Drama Actress and then make your own using our easy drag-and-drop menu at the bottom of this post.
1. Viola Davis (“How to Get Away with Murder“) – 3/1 odds to earn nomination
This two-time Oscar nominee took home her first Emmy last year for the inaugural season of ABC’s “HTGAWM.” After winning back-to-back SAG Awards for her role as criminal lawyer Annalise Keating, our Top 24 Users now give her the best odds to also repeat at the Emmys.
2. Robin Wright (“House of Cards“) – 4/1 odds to earn nomination
Wright is hoping to take down Emmy’s reigning champ for the just-released fourth season of Netflix’s “House of Cards.” We won’t spoil anything here, but she has multiple episodes to choose from that are strong enough to win her the Emmy after three consecutive losses … if voters actually bother to watch the submissions.
3. Claire Danes (“Homeland“) – 5/1 odds to earn nomination
Never count out Emmy favorite Danes, who’s already won twice for this role of CIA Agent Carrie Mathison on the Showtime staple “Homeland.” Also on her trophy mantel is a Best Movie/Mini Actress Emmy for HBO’s 2010 biopic “Temple Grandin.”
4. Taraji P. Henson (“Empire“) – 11/2 odds to earn nomination
Over the past 12 months, Henson has skyrocketed into pop culture with her instantly iconic character Cookie Lyon. Her talents won her the Critics’ Choice Award and Golden Globe, and now our Top 24 Users have her in fourth place to take home her very first Emmy. What Cookie wants, Cookie gets.
5. Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife“) – 15/2 odds to earn nomination
Despite being snubbed last year, our Top 24 Users think Margulies will earn a final nomination for the farewell season of CBS’s long-running legal drama. If she were to win, it’d be her third Emmy for playing attorney Alicia Florrick and her fourth overall after a 1995 victory for “ER” in the supporting race.
6. Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black“) – 14/1 odds to earn nomination
Rounding out their list is last year’s surprise nominee Maslany. After two years of the fans begging and pleading for Maslany to be nominated, the Emmys finally let her into the club for the hit sci-fi show’s third season. Might lightning strike twice for Maslany?
