[WATCH] Emmy predictions smackdown: Tom O’Neil (Gold Derby) vs. Pete Hammond (Deadline) on top comedy races

When the Emmy nominations are announced Thursday morning, will “Transparent,” “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” or “Silicon Valley” emerge as series challengers to “Veep”? In the predictions video slugfest above, Deadline Hollywood wag Pete Hammond and I agree that “Veep” is poised to win Best Comedy Series for a second year in a row and Julia Louis-Dreyfus may set new Emmy records. Tune in to see us survey all top comedy categories.

Pete and I agree that “Black-ish” will be “huge-ish,” upping its tally of nominations from one last year (lead actor Anthony Anderson) to include bids for Best Comedy and lead actress Tracee Ellis Ross. Ellie Kemper (“Kimmy Schmidt”) and Jane Fonda (“Grace and Frankie”) got snubbed last year, but they may finally land land on the Emmy list at last.
