[FORUMS] Emmy wish list: ‘The Leftovers’ beats ‘Game of Thrones’ for Best Drama Series

Having won a record-setting 12 Emmys last year and coming off of another TV season that dominated the TV discussion his spring, “Game of Throneslooks virtually unstoppable on its march to a second straight Emmy title for Best Drama Series. However, when we asked our forum posters to list their personal top seven choices for the best dramas of the season, it was another HBO fantasy series that got the most mentions: “The Leftovers.”

Says forum poster dj, “‘The Leftovers’ would win in a landslide if there was any justice. Just an incredible season of TV.” Adds jf123, “This season took all of the great things about season one and made them better, and it removed all of the ‘meh’ stuff in season one. And it also had one of the greatest episodes of television I have ever seen, ‘International Assassin.'”

But “The Leftovers” wasn’t the only show getting love from our users. “The Americans” also made several appearances, with jf123 explaining, “Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell are two of the best actors on television. Focusing more on the action going on in the US instead of the stuff in Russia was a great choice.” And FrozenBarbie says “Rectify” is “”probably my very favorite drama right now.”
