[WATCH] ‘Empire’ Emmy event: 8 red carpet interviews with Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollett and more

The Lyon family welcomed Emmy voters into their “Empire” on Friday as they all packed Fox Studios in Los Angeles for an Emmy FYC event for broadcast television’s highest rated show. The stars of the Golden Globe nominated drama series took part in a lively Q&A session moderated by Gold Derby founder Tom O’Neil. Audience members enjoyed some riotous behind-the-scenes stories and even got their own questions answered.

This Fox hit centers around the Lyon family and their multi-million dollar music label, which each of them to control for its power and money. Among those in attendance were Golden Globe champ Taraji P. Henson, who received an Emmy nomination last year for Best Drama Actress, Oscar nominee Terrence Howard, Trai Byers, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Gray, Ta’Rhonda Jones, Grace Gealey, Serayah McNeil, and Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe.

In its first season, “Empire” struck quickly to become the top-rated show on television, reaching ratings records not seen in over a decade, and just concluded its second season. As Zach Laws recently observed: “You can count on Golden Globe winner Henson snagging another Emmy bid for Best Drama Actress: she currently holds fourth place odds of 15/2 amongst our experts. And though he was snubbed last year, Howard could benefit from two open slots in Best Drama Actor with Jeff Daniels (‘The Newsroom’) and victor Jon Hamm (‘Mad Men’) no longer eligible. Though facing stiff competition in Drama Supporting Actor, Smollett has been on the rise as of late, helped by a key guest role in the hit WGN series ‘Underground.’ That combined with a spectacular season could be enough to push him through.”
