Anderson Cooper joined Kelly Ripa as guest co-host of “Live with Kelly” this week. Her co-host of the last four years, Michael Strahan, quit the show in controversial fashion a few weeks back — Ripa wasn’t notified of his decision to leave for “Good Morning America” — and the search is on to find his replacement.  Should it be Cooper? There could be a big Emmy payoff for Cooper if he does join “Live” full-time. Ripa and Strahan won Best Entertainment Talk Show Host at the Daytime Emmys for the last two years in a row. And before that Ripa won the combined category of Best Talk Show Host with Regis Philbin in 2011 and 2012. Cooper had a talker of his own, which ran from 2011 to 2013. He was nominated for Best Informative Talk Show in 2012 and Best Talk Show Host in 2012 and 2013, but he didn’t win any of those races.

But Cooper has won several News and Documentary Emmys for his reporting on CNN, including “Anderson Cooper 360,” as well as his work on CBS’s long-running news magazine “60 Minutes.” Would he be the right fit to fill Philbin and Strahan’s “Live” shoes?
