[WATCH] Linda Cardellini on ‘Bloodline’ season 2: ‘Road to hell is paved with good intentions’

“I think for Meg the road to hell is paved with good intentions,” declares Linda Cardellini as we chat via webcam (watch above) about her character’s arc in season two of “Bloodline.” The acclaimed Netflix family drama returned with 10 new episodes on May 27.

Season one of “Bloodline” followed the Rayburn clan in the Florida Keys as they dealt with the return of black sheep Danny (Ben Mendelsohn), whose antagonism eventually led his brother John (Kyle Chandler) killing him in a fit of desperation. John then enlisted his siblings Meg and Kevin (Norbert Leo Butz) to cover up the crime. “There are all these moments when John comes to her, and she does what she thinks is helping him,” says Cardellini, “but in turn it seals her fate and dooms her.”

Meg “changes the most of the siblings” in season two according to the actress. Part of that is learning to be cagier about her true feelings and intentions. “I think we all spiral out of control, but she’s a very different personality than John and Kevin, and she manages to use her logic and compartmentalize,” she says. “They’re a private family in a public place, and they have two faces. Even though she’s falling apart she finds a way to carry on and to do the duties she has to do.”
