‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ wins Best Film Editing Oscar

As predicted, “Mad Max: Fury Road” won Best Film Editing at the Oscars on Sunday. This film was Gold Derby’s frontrunner with odds of 2/9 to prevail. This is the first Oscar for editor Margaret Sixel, who’s married to the film’s director George Miller.

The two outlier experts predicting “The Big Short” were Sasha Stone (Awards Daily) and Anne Thompson (Thompson on Hollywood).

Among the seven editors, all seven were forecasting “Mad Max”: Chris Beachum, Marcus James Dixon, Rob Licuria, Daniel Montgomery, Matt Noble, Tom O’Neil and Paul Sheehan.

Also predicting “Mad Max” to win were 18 of our Top 24 Users. Rounding out this group, three voted for “The Big Short,” two for “The Revenant” and one for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

And 21 of our All-Star Users predicted “Mad Max,” while the other three opted for “The Big Short.”
