Miley Cyrus keeps expanding her repertoire. The actress and singer recently debuted as a mentor on NBC’s Emmy-winning singing competition “The Voice,” and on September 29 she took the reins of another Emmy-winning series, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” She guest-hosted the daytime talk show in place of DeGeneres, who was out sick.
“I know all of you came to see Ellen, so I’m gonna do my best to make you very happy,” said Cyrus when she took the stage. “I’m dressed like her, I smell like her, just before I came out here, I actually kissed a girl, so thank you. Thank you for making me feel very welcome.”
In her first foray into celebrity interviewing, Cyrus welcomed Sarah Jessica Parker to discuss Parker’s new HBO comedy series, “Divorce” before playing one of Ellen’s most popular games, “5 Second Rule.”
Next, Cyrus bonded with Idina Menzel about working for Disney and speculate about whether Menzel’s “Frozen” character, Elsa, could be revealed to be a lesbian in the upcoming sequel (watch above). “I’m all for it,” said Menzel, though she can’t confirm or deny what the official plans for the character are. Cyrus agreed, saying that “it’s important for me, somebody who has so many eyes on me — especially young people — to have the conversation because young people don’t see that enough at a young age to feel comfortable, so I think it would be awesome if Elsa were a lesbian.”
Not bad for her first time out. If the whole music thing doesn’t work out for Cyrus, she might have a future in daytime.
