Some of this year’s Ocar races are more confusing than ever — not least of all Best Picture, which has ricocheted between “Spotlight,” “The Big Short” and “The Revenant” since the awards season began. So let’s calm our nerves by considering what we know for sure: who is the single biggest lock to win on Oscar night?
We’ve polled 25 Expert film journalists from various outlets, and out of two dozen categories there are only five where they’re unanimous about the outcome: Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio for “The Revenant”), Best Actress (Brie Larson for “Room“), Best Adapted Screenplay (“The Big Short”), Best Cinematography (“The Revenant”) and Best Production Design (“Mad Max: Fury Road“).
