Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (“The Revenant“) is the frontrunner with odds of 1/4 to win Best Director at the Oscars on Sunday, just one year after winning for “Birdman.” The last time someone won back-to-back Oscars for Best Director was Joseph L. Mankiewicz, who prevailed for “A Letter to Three Wives” (1949) and “All About Eve” (1950). Prior to that, John Ford had won two of his record four Oscars consecutively for helming “The Grapes of Wrath” (1940) and “How Green Was My Valley” (1941).

Also predicting Inarritu to win are 21 of our Top 24 Users and all 24 of our All-Star Users. Backing Miller are two of the Top 24, while one of the Top 24 goes out on a limb for Lenny Abrahamson (“Room“).
